The EU has released major news: There are new regulations for product certification in the 5725MHz~5875MHz band!
As we all know, the original 5725MHz ~ 5875MHz frequency band products can only be limited by the EN 300 440 standard, its power is only 25mW, the power is too low, the transmission distance is too short, it is completely insufficient.
The market needs network solutions to meet different application needs. The European Union has officially launched a new certification standard specifically for the 5725MHz~5875MHz band, namely Draft ETSI EN 303 258 V1.0.6 (2018-01): Wireless Industrial Applications ( WIA); Equipment operating in the 5 725 MHz to 5 875 MHz frequency range with power levels ranging up to 400 mW; Harmonised Standard for access to radio spectrum.
Although it is currently only a draft version, the following carefully analyzes the new requirements of ETSI EN 303 258.
1. What type of equipment does EN 303 258 apply to?
BALUN: Remember the following key information,
1) WIA equipment (wireless industrial application equipment).
2) Working in the frequency range of 5 725 MHz to 5 875 MHz.
3) The RF power does not exceed 400mW (note: EIRP).
4) The device must support APC (Adaptive Power Control) function
In other words, this standard can only be considered when our products meet the above four conditions.
2. What guidance does EN 303 258 provide for us?
BALUN: This document specifies the technical characteristics and measurement methods of wireless industrial automation equipment operating in the 5 725 MHz to 5 875 MHz frequency band. It also specifies a spectrum sharing mechanism to coexist with other equipment operating in the 5 725 MHz to 5 875 MHz band.
Note: The specification of the spectrum sharing mechanism is another important change of this standard relative to EN 300 440.
