The IEC/EN 62368-1 standard is planned to be implemented in 2019

Time: 2020/6/8 Posted: PCS

After 8 years, the International Electrotechnical Commission published the IEC62368-1 "Audio/Audio, Information and Communication Equipment Part 1: Safety Requirements" (first edition) standard on January 21, 2010. Because the content developed in the first edition was not ideal, the standard did not require adoption, nor did it attract widespread attention. In 2014, the second edition of the standard was released, and the content of the second edition was generally accepted. The standard was used as an alternative to the two standards of IEC60065 and IEC60950. Most countries and regions plan to implement it in 2019. The translation of China's IEC62368-1 national standards is also in full swing.

The new standard IEC62368-1:2010 is applicable to the safety of electronic and electrical equipment in the fields of audio, video, information and communication technology, and commercial and office equipment whose rated voltage does not exceed 600V. The standard does not include equipment performance or functional characteristics requirements. This standard is a safety standard that categorizes energy sources, specifies safety protection requirements for different energy sources, and provides guidelines for applying these safety protection requirements.

The IEC/EN 62368-1 standard is for the safety requirements of audio, video, information and communication technology equipment. With the development of audio and video multimedia technology, the integration of two types of products, audio/video equipment and information technology equipment, is getting higher and higher. , The boundary between the two has become increasingly blurred. IEC/EN 62368-1, as the standard that will replace IEC/EN 60950-1 and IEC/EN 60065, is not only a simple merger of the two, but in the standard Introduced a new concept of Hazard-Based Safety Engineering (HBSE), that is, for different hazardous energy sources, the requirements for the safety protection of different personnel are proposed.

The EU stipulates that audio and video and information technology products can only apply for EN 62368-1 in Europe in June 2019. The second revised version of the second edition of EN 60950-1 (Amendment No. 2 ) The eighth edition of EN 60065 will be replaced by the new standard in June 2019.
